And the BCM Award winners are...

BCP Asia will announce winners of the first Asia Business Continuity Awards on Oct. 30 in Singapore. Asian companies and the Asia offices of non-Asian companies are eligible.

One nominated company will be recognized for excellence in its business continuity program. A "Business Continuity Manager of the Year" in Asia will also be honored, and one hard-working individual will receive a "Lifetime Achievement" award. And there are three categories for vendors: recovery sites, records storage, and BCP-related software.

Keen to win? Submit this ABCA entry form. You have 2,000 words to state your case, and need US$100 to nominate a person or US$500 to nominate a company.

The judges include Lyndon Bird (U.K.), Jane White (U.K.) and John Worthington (Australia). A U.S. judge will be added to the panel soon.

Nathaniel Forbes

Nathaniel Forbes is the director of Forbes Calamity Prevention, a Singapore-based consulting firm providing business continuity, crisis management and emergency response advice and training to multinational companies, with a focus on companies with offices in Asia. The firm is 10 years old. FCP's current and past clients include Singapore Exchange Ltd, OCBC Bank, AXA Insurance, The Gillette Company, Siemens and ABN Amro Bank. A former President of the Singapore Computer Society’s Business Continuity Group, Nathaniel passed the DRII’s Certified Business Continuity Planner (CBCP) examination in 1997. He has lived, traveled or worked in Asia since 1973.
