Mobile government services in Singapore

As noted in this report, there are about 150 government services in Singapore that are accessible via mobile devices like mobile phones and PDAs. Let's take a look at some of the services that are available to the mobile citizens of Singapore:

SMS: Citizens can sign up at MyeCitizen portal to receive SMS alerts when their passports are about to expire and when their road taxes and library books are due. Military and police personnel may use 2-way SMS services to update the relevant authorities.

Mobile Java: Citizens can check their social security account balances by downloading a Mobile Java application into their mobile phones. Citizens may also enjoy special discounts when they show this mobile loyalty card at selected merchants.
