Vote for Beijing to host OpenOffice.org

Posted in Open Source by Peter Junge on Thursday, February 21 2008 02:48 AM

As I already indicated in my previous blog, Beijing submitted a proposal to host the 2008 International OpenOffice.org Conference (OOoCon 2008).

Recently, the OOoCon voting has started. And, well, here's my appeal:

Dear OpenOffice.org developers and users all over Asia, please help Beijing become the first location outside of Europe to host the OpenOffice.org Annual Conference. If you were a registered user of OpenOffice.org at Jan. 1 this year, you can cast your vote at the OOoCon 2008 voting page.

Thank you in advance,
Peter

I noticed Beijing is the ONLY non-European city listed as options. What's with that? What about giving a North/South America, Africa, and Aus/NZ option, too, next time?

OOo is indeed a very European-centric project. However, communities apply themselves, so other regions only need to go ahead. I'd like to strongly recommend this for next year.
