COMMUNICASIA, SINGAPORE--Taiwanese notebook PC maker Dialogue has unveiled what it claims to be the world's first laptop touting built-in high-speed downlink packet access (HSDPA).
Targeted at business users and consumers alike, the Flybook V33i Series has a card reader that accepts 3G (Third-Generation) and HSDPA (high speed downlink packet access) cellphone SIM cards for ubiquitous high-speed Net access.
According to Michael Lee, a representative from Dialogue Technology, the V33i Series will sport EV-DO (1x Evolution-Data Optimized) as well as CDMA (code division multiple access) capabilities by the end of this year.

"By then, we would be able to target users in almost all cellphone networks in the world," he told ZDNet Asia.
Lee said Dialogue is already working with cellphone operators to bundle the V33i with their HSDPA price plans. In addition to Telecom Italia, which has started to offer the laptop to subscribers, Dialogue is also in the midst of inking similar deals with some 10 operators in Europe. "Europeans like to surf the Web outdoors, hence we've started offering the product to them first."
With a price tag of US$2,500, the V33i will be introduced to Asia-Pacific markets later this year. Product features include an 8.9-inch touch screen, Wi-Fi capability and Intel Pentium M processor. At 1.2 kg, you can be sure it won't weigh you.
