Global Air Freight Company Analyzes Mission Critical Logistics Data With SQL Server 2005

Overview

Jettainer specializes in management of air freight containers and pallets, known as Unit Load Devices (ULDs). The company, which tracks some 9 million container moves a year, required a robust relational database for tracking 35,000 ULDs in the global network of airlines and air cargo companies. This mission critical tracking involves processing some 25,000 movement messages a day and more than 150,000 items of flight data. Jettainer, which sees 30 percent annual data growth, deployed a solution using Microsoft SQL Server 2005 database. The company uses SQL Server 2005 Analysis Services to create multidimensional cubes for analytics and SQL Server 2005 Reporting Services for flexible reporting. Microsoft BizTalk Server 2006 is used to integrate with the company's other systems.
