Overview

A car is large and complex product, but not particularly demanding in terms of sales administration and logistics. In fact, exactly the opposite is true. The large number of different color, engine and equipment-level combinations means that an effective analysis tool is needed to give an overview on order volumes, which products are selling and which aren't and the type and quantity of spare parts and optional extras to be kept in stock. A data warehouse based on SAS software provides just such an overview for Svenska Volkswagen and does the job so well that almost all of the company's departments are using it.
