Overview

In 1995, National Semiconductor decided to consolidate its Sybase systems into the corporate structure and centralize the management of all databases. The Centralized Systems and Databases organization became responsible for supporting the entire business side of the company - from design automation to e-mail to financial forecasting. Bringing in BMC SQLBackTrack for Sybase was an integral part of the initial consolidation plan. The choice was "Quite obvious." The provided tool was just a generic backup and recovery operation. The BMC SQL-BackTrack tool was recommended, and once the company started to use it, they liked it very much.
