Army Corps of Engineers Uses iSCSI SAN to Meet Critical Storage Challenges

WORTHWHILE?

Overview

Despite having owned a fibre channel Storage Area Network (SAN) for six years, the Huntington District Army Corps of Engineers was still using Direct Attached Storage (DAS) for the bulk of their data, which includes critical engineering files, congressional files, and public records. But the Fibre channel SAN proved too complex for the medium-sized operation, which couldn't afford a fibre channel specialist. To solve its storage problems, Huntington sought a scalable solution that would:

  • Increase disk capacity
  • Simplify administration
  • Replace obsolete file and print servers
  • Upgrade an aging backup and recovery system

Download this case study to learn why, after a careful evaluation of vendors, Huntington ultimately chose LeftHand Networks' iSCSI SAN to meet these critical objectives.
