The Dutch City of Almere Transforms the Way It Works to Improve Social Services and Cut Costs

Overview

Netherlands Social Services Department needed to improve the management of un-employment benefits-related budget and transform from a department-oriented to a process-based entrepreneurial culture. The challenge was to place the unemployed in jobs and ensure long-term employment. SSD transformed the department's approach to processes, organization, and technology. It implemented an information architecture to transform and support the way the organization operates as well as developed a business-case analysis to bridge the department's vision and implementation.
