University of Twente Makes Its Enterprise Directory Simpler and More Flexible

Overview

The University of Twente (UT) wanted to replace the obsolete Innosoft directory that managed staff and student contact details and ensure better protection for these contact details. The challenge was to enable staff and students to log on with a username and password and simplify the management and maintenance of enterprise directories. UT selected Oracle Virtual Directory (OVD) as an abstraction layer, enabling contact details to be displayed in the same way as before, without the systems requiring any adjustments as well as established better protection by introducing a mandatory authentication process for students and staff, thereby blocking access by unauthorized users.
