whitepaper Maximizing Return on Investments in Medical Imaging IT With IBM's Grid Medical Archive Solution2006-12-09 01:00:18 IBM
The world of medical imaging has changed dramatically over the last decade. The pace of technological change has been truly breathtaking. The transition from analog to digital image acquisition is now in full swing, and in modalities such as CT and MRI it is nearly universal. This dramatic change in the medical imaging world has brought with it serious ramifications for medical imaging economics. It used to be the case that medical image management costs were predictable, since their relationship with the growth in procedure volumes was linear. As the volume of images increased, the amount of floor space and dedicated personnel required for film management grew by the same proportion.
whitepaper DI-GRUBER: A Distributed Approach to Grid Resource Brokering2006-08-23 01:00:12 Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers
Managing Usage Service Level Agreements (USLAs) within environments that integrate participants and resources spanning multiple physical institutions is a challenging problem. Maintaining a single unified USLA management decision point over hundreds to thousands of jobs and sites can become a bottleneck in terms of reliability as well as performance. DIGRUBER, an extension to the GRUBER brokering framework, was developed as a distributed grid USLA-based resource broker that allows multiple decision points to coexist and cooperate in real-time. DIGRUBER addresses issues regarding how USLAs can be stored, retrieved, and disseminated efficiently in a large distributed environment. The key question this paper addresses is the scalability and performance of DI-GRUBER in large Grid environments.
whitepaper An Overview of Service-Oriented Architecture, Web Services and Grid Computing2006-03-03 01:01:29 Hewlett-Packard
Web services and a service-oriented style of architecture are widely seen as the basis for a new generation of distributed applications and system management tools. This paper introduces the key concepts, relationships and benefits of these two technologies, and indicated how they can be combined to develop highly scalable application systems that can span management and ownership domains, regardless of the hardware and software platforms deployed in each. It also shows how the careful development of key standards is increasing the appeal of service-oriented environments, and how they are being used as the basis for development of interoperable next-generation grids.
whitepaper Standardizing Grid Computing2006-10-13 01:00:15 Oracle
The Enterprise Grid Alliance (EGA) is a consortium of more than 30 leading vendors and customers working together to accelerate deployment of grids in enterprise data centers by fostering the understanding and adoption of existing tools, and to develop standards that are aligned with the unique needs of enterprise customers. By focusing on grid-style computing in and between enterprise data centers, and on enterprise components - storage, servers, databases, application servers, and management frameworks - the EGA is focusing on the infrastructure and applications that enterprises use to run their businesses. By focusing on these interconnected pools of resources, enterprises can dynamically allocate resources when required to meet critical demand or changing business needs.
whitepaper Windows Compute Cluster Server 2003 Beta 22006-12-26 01:00:57 Microsoft
For customers solving complex computational problems, Windows Compute Cluster Server 2003 Beta 2 will accelerate time-to-insight by providing a High-Performance Computing (HPC) platform that is simple to deploy, operate, and integrate with existing infrastructure and tools. Historically, cluster configuration was technically complex and the level of difficulty frequently required dedicated support staff. Prescriptive setup procedures simplify network configuration, remote loading of nodes using Remote Installation Services, node configuration, and security setup. The integrated Job Scheduler can be accessed via command-line interface, or through several API's is provided for submitting and managing cluster workloads. Windows Compute Cluster Server 2003 provides seamless integration with the award winning Windows Server 2003 operating system for security, storage, and productivity.
whitepaper Platform - Improved Collaboration: Streamlines and Replicates Processes2006-01-05 01:01:44 Sun Microsystems
In the highly competitive Life Sciences sector, companies and institutions can't afford to be constrained by inflexible, static technology infrastructures. From clinical to pharmaceutical and biotechnology enterprises, performance is hampered when organizations are forced to choose between speed and accuracy or trade competitiveness for profitability. At the same time, companies are faced with growing data volume and complexity, increased regulatory and market pressures, and stringent budget limitations. Working together, Sun and Platform Computing provide the industry's most powerful and comprehensive grid solutions that allow enterprises to accelerate drug discovery and development applications, solve new scientific or business problems, and improve research collaboration and productivity.
whitepaper Sun StorEdge 5210/5310 NAS Appliance Storage Consolidation and Web Serving2006-01-19 16:32:37
Organizations with the need to implement large web serving environments often deploy multiple web servers with their own storage resources, causing excessive system and storage administration overhead. Learn how the StorEdge(tm) 5000 NAS Series provides a framework for implementing and consolidating storage in a Web serving environment, maximizing storage and administrative resources.
whitepaper Oracle Database 10g Release 2 Architecture on Windows2006-03-03 01:01:29
Oracle Database 10g Release 2 for Windows provides an optimized database solution for deployments that require enterprise scalability, reliability, and high performance. This paper describes the architecture of the Oracle database on Windows and how it differs from its counterparts on UNIX and Linux. By using a native, thread-based Windows service model, Oracle Database 10g Release 2 ensures high performance and scalability. The Oracle database includes many features that enhance scalability and performance by tightly integrating with the advanced features of the Windows operating system and the underlying hardware.
whitepaper HP's Strategy for Delivering Cluster Technology to Technical Computing Environments2006-03-09 01:48:59 IDG (International Data Group)
Technical computing vendors must maintain a close focus on their overall mission, which is to provide the tools, such as clusters, that scientists and engineers need in order to address the next generation of problems. It is believed that over the long term successful vendors will continue to advance the state of the art as opposed to slipping into a margin war by simply providing less expensive cycles to address the current generation of problems. HP has developed a comprehensive strategy to address clustering requirements for the technical computing community.
whitepaper Scalability and Performance of Hp Proliant Bl20p G3 Server Blades With Dual-Core Intel Xeon Processors (2.8 Ghz/2 Mb) Processors in an Hp SBC Environment2006-04-04 03:55:14 Hewlett-Packard
The HP ProLiant BL20p G3 is a performance dual-Processor (2P) server blade engineered for the enterprise. This server blade delivers high-performance Dual-Core Intel Xeon 2.8 GHz/2 MB processors, SAN storage capability, up to 8 GB of PC2-3200 ECC DDR2 memory, and four gigabit NICs standard.
