Use AutoArchive to Back Up or Delete Items 2007-12-01 Microsoft

The user's Microsoft Office Outlook mailbox grows as they create and receive items. To manage the space in the mailbox or on the mail server, the user might need another place to store - archive - old items that are important but rarely used. AutoArchive handles this storage process automatically, moving items to an archive location, an Outlook Personal Folders file (.pst), but user can customize most of the default settings to fit the storage needs.

Backup and Restoration Using IBM SAN Volume Controller, LTO and Tivoli Storage Manager 2007-12-01 IBM

This white paper documents the methodology used at the IBM Oracle International Competency Center (ICC) to migrate the Telco (Oracle E-Business Suite Applications 11i (11.5.10) Telco Benchmark - using Oracle10g on an IBM System p5 570 Server) benchmark environment from high speed 15K disk drives to lower speed 10K disk drives for retention in an online environment. Steps are taken to migrate the Telco benchmark environment (AIX database server, web and application server) offline to IBM System Storage TS3310 Tape Library with LTO 3 using Tivoli Storage Manager (TSM) V5.4. With this new capability and service, IBM offers restoration from tape of the final benchmark environment to the same or newer IBM hardware for rerun of the tests or programs.

Lekkerland GmbH & Co. KG is the full-service partner for all convenience distribution channels in Germany. Last year, the group's 7,400 workforce achieved sales of EUR 9.3 billion. The company's challenge was to keep pace with growing data volumes and complete backups within time windows. The company wanted to improve storage utilization to reduce maintenance and administrative overhead and increase data availability. They deployed Sun's a new virtual tape library backup system based on Sun StorageTek technologies provides a redundant disk cache for storing and managing data across data centers prior to its transfer to physical tape.

Named after Orville and Wilbur Wright, the inventors of powered flight, Wright State University continues their tradition of innovation. A rich and dynamic community of nearly 17,000 students, Wright State offers more than 100 undergraduate degrees and nearly 50 Ph.D., master's and professional degrees, and its School of Medicine is home to the nation's first civilian aerospace medicine program. Backup success and recovery rates improved from 80 percent or less to 99.9 percent. The company invested in Symantec Sygate Enterprise Protection for all 11,500 laptops and desktops that connect to its network. As a result, system-wide security disruptions have been eliminated.
