The client is the subsidiary company of 396 Billion Dollar conglomerate and a leading provider of financial services to consumers and retailers in over 40 countries across the globe. The company's challenge was uploading, comparing and updating tables of more than 50,000 records was a time taking task. Hence it was important to optimize the logic to prevent downtime of the system during this update. MindTree developed an application layer over the existing Oracle database that would upload the data onto the system and compare all tables with existing data simultaneously. A complex logic was designed to identify splits and mergers of banks.

Servigistics offered its market-leading strategic service management software in both Microsoft and UNIX-and-Oracle environments - and most customers, seeking scalability and performance, chose the latter. Servigistics worked with Microsoft to benchmark its solution on the Windows platform and found that Microsoft technologies outperformed UNIX, even with massively large databases, for one-third the cost.

Energie Data Services Nederland Streamlines Data Exchange Between Suppliers 2008-01-01 Oracle

Energie Data Services Nederland (EDSN) wanted to give energy suppliers fast access to both actual and historical electricity and gas usage data from 14 million gas and electricity connections. The challenge was to allow energy suppliers to access accurate, reliable data in order to provide their customers with an appropriate advance payment amount and to check the correct meter reading at switch time. EDSN worked with Sogeti to build the Meter Data Register application, allowing Energie Data Services Nederland to upload and access energy consumption data. Due to expertise of Sogeti and the productivity of the development tools used - Oracle JDeveloper and Oracle Application Development Framework - it took only two months to build the application.

Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University Increases Security and Streamlines Provisioning 2008-01-01 Oracle

Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University wanted to meet student and employee demands for online, self-service functionality - especially important given the university's geographically-dispersed locations and ensure identity management with a strong, scalable system to manage more than 70,000 accounts including students, employees, and contractors. The challenge was to replace a manual provisioning system and accelerate provisioning changes, which amount to about 1,000 per day throughout the university. The University worked with Mycroft Inc. to implement Oracle Identity and Access Management Suite to improve service and accelerate business processes, while enforcing tighter, automated access and management controls around sensitive data. It gained insight and control over who can access which systems.

E.ON UK Cuts Reporting Time to Five Days and Saves Money Through Faster Reconciliation 2008-01-01 Oracle

E.ON UK wanted to conduct complex analyses of six terabytes of customer billing and settlement data that increases by five to six million rows per day to gain insight into customers' gas and electricity use and leverage multidimensional analytical capabilities to ensure prompt reconciliation and identify over- or undercharging. The challenge was to analyze gross margins to the lowest level and identify demand for and profitability of 40 different price-capped offerings. The company implemented Oracle to support the Finance Transformation Project to improve analytical capability, deliver timely billing and settlement data, and improve forecasting accuracy. It replaced Microsoft Excel spreadsheets and Access databases with Oracle Database, Oracle OLAP, and Oracle Business Intelligence Standard Edition.

Yulon Nissan Implements Next Generation DMS to Enhance Customer Service and Boost Sales 2008-01-01 Oracle

Yulon Nissan Motor Co., Ltd is a joint venture between Taiwan's Yulon Motor Co., Ltd and Japan's Nissan Motor Co., Ltd. In 2005, Yulon Nissan began developing a next-generation Dealer Management System (DMS). The system enables customers to interface with the company's dealers, and is critical to maintaining smooth operations and prompt service. To ensure the DMS is always available, Yulon Nissan selected Oracle Database and Oracle Real Application Clusters to underpin the system. Dealers and customers now enjoy 24/7 access to the DMS. Moving to a single DMS eliminated the cost and complexity of maintaining disparate dealer applications, unifying information and enabling Yulon Nissan to communicate effectively with its dealer network.

Oracle Homes in an Oracle Real Application Clusters Environment 2008-01-01 Oracle

It is obvious that each node in a clustered environment needs the Oracle software in order to access an Oracle Real Application Clusters (RAC) database. What is not so obvious is whether the software should be installed in a shared fashion (shared Oracle Home) or privately on each node. This paper will discuss the pros and cons of each method as well as explain how to complete common operations, such as add/remove nodes, using OPatch and Oracle's Universal Installer (OUI). The complete manual steps will be described however it should be noted that all of the described steps are completely automated with Enterprise Manager's Life Cycle Management (Provisioning Automation) features.

Saving Time and Labor on Oracle Patching With Enterprise Manager Provisioning Pack - A Case Study With Oracle Internal IT 2008-01-01 Oracle

The purpose of this paper is to detail the process and benefits of using Enterprise Manager Provisioning pack procedure to automate application of the Critical Patch Updates (hence forth referred to as CPU) on Real Application Clusters (RAC) in Oracle Internal IT (henceforth referred to as ST-IT) environments. Oracle ST-IT environment consists of complex multi-tier systems. ST-IT maintains high secure environments adhering to the quarterly cycle of CPU. The application of these patches are mandatory to keep the environments secure, stable, and at high performance. With the rules and requirements in place, orchestration of identifying, testing and rolling out patches on to the production servers had become a time consuming, labor-intensive and error-prone process.
