SQL Server Reporting Services' Rich Integration With Word & Excel Via SoftArtisan's OfficeWriter Solution Provides Major Performance Gains for Momenta 0000-00-00 Microsoft

Momenta, a leading program management consultancy, needed a centralized reporting solution for the Department of Trade and Industry to replace a legacy application that was facing increasing performance problems as data increased. Momenta found that its staff could create reports faster and make them more accessible by using SoftArtisans OfficeWriter with SQL Server Reporting Services. The company has completed the first phase of migrating from a dual database platform (a Microsoft Access 97 database and SQL Server 2000 database with Access 2002 interface) to a SQL Server 2000 and SoftArtisans OfficeWriter solution. In addition to generating user-friendly reports in native Microsoft Excel and Word, Momenta discovered that OfficeWriter for Reporting Services could generate a complex report in 10 seconds.

For more than a half-century, Ortho-Clinical Diagnostics (OCD), a Johnson & Johnson company, has provided accurate, timely, and cost-effective solutions for screening, diagnosing, monitoring, and confirming diseases to the global healthcare community. Despite OCD's efforts to acclimate employees to the current business intelligence platform, employees view the system as unintuitive and difficult to use. Because the current platform lacks simple report generation and data gathering techniques, the IT department has been forced to think of other ways to present sales information. Joining the Microsoft Office Rapid Deployment Technology Adoption Program, OCD hopes to adopt a new solution centered on Microsoft Office Excel 2007, Microsoft Office SharePoint Server 2007, and Microsoft SQL Server 2005 Analysis Services.

Medical Transcription Software Speeds Documentation, Eliminates Errors 0000-00-00 Microsoft

Daniel Gaskin is a software developer first, but "Entrepreneur" comes in a close second. After being approached by a medical transcription firm in Sarasota, Florida (MedLite, Inc.), to automate its transcription processing and distribution, Gaskin examined the company's operations and a light bulb came on: Use Microsoft Office Word 2003. A Word-based solution had the potential to minimize the effort required to assure quality documentation. Two years later, Gaskin's "TranMan" software solution is the backbone of MedLite. Gaskin formed his own company, TransTec Solutions, and now plans to market TranMan to the U.S.$20-billion-plus medical transcription software market.

Mortgage Company Improves Report Quality, Decreases Creation Time by 75 Percent 2006-11-01 01:00:29 Microsoft

New Century Mortgage Corporation needed a better way to generate and access reports. The company's solution wasted developers' time and delayed the creation of new reports. It was expensive to maintain and update. And because each department had a different reporting structure, varying results and duplicated effort were common. Working with Avanade, a Microsoft Gold Certified Partner, the company created a solution integrating its data warehouse with a reporting portal. Users now access a wide variety of reports and scorecards through the Web-based interface of Microsoft Office SharePoint Portal Server 2003. New Century Mortgage has decreased the amount of time it takes to create reports by 75 percent, improved the quality of its reports.
