De Beers India conducts active diamond exploration in seven Indian states with field-based teams of geophysicists, geologists, security specialists, and others. To protect highly proprietary information on potential mining sites, and to make the most of the challenging work to find and explore such sites, De Beers India must provide its mobile employees with the most advanced security and productivity tools available. Above all, these tools need to address the protection of data that must be communicated over Internet satellite links. To this end, De Beers India has piloted a deployment of the Windows Vista operating system to a small group of IT professionals and laid plans for a production deployment to some 100 mobile employees.

Nth Analytics faced the challenge of multiple SAS programmers providing code with too much variation. The organization had good, experienced SAS programmers, but it was difficult to get consistent SAS code from them. With SAS Enterprise Business Intelligence (BI) Server, the data is much more manageable because the software writes the code for the programmer. The organization will enjoy a major competitive advantage because it will be much easier to quickly validate their programs, putting them on the cutting edge of technology for reporting. SAS Enterprise BI Server also delivers improved security.

As North Carolina Central University (NCCU) rapidly grows in size and stature, the number of time-consuming, ad hoc requests for information has increased dramatically, and the university needed to find a way to quickly and accurately retrieve, analyze and transform data via the Web so their university leaders who depend on this information can make decisions with confidence. They found the clear answer to these challenges in SAS, which is already enabling them to build and access new reports through a simple point-and-click interface. NCCU has selected SAS Enterprise BI Server and SAS ETL Server software.

SAS Institute |
| |
In 2002, Nedbank Retail started integrating data with SAS to provide a 360-degree view of the customer based on information collected from its transactional systems. Since then, Nedbank has built one of the largest data stores in South Africa, with 52 terabytes of data, 30 data marts and a range of advanced applications serving 9,000 users. This represented a significant capital investment, and the challenge was to maximize the return on that investment. With the application of SAS business intelligence software, Nedbank has sought to leverage its information assets - for example, by cross-selling and up-selling more effectively to its customers.
