Developing Reports Using SQL Server Reporting Services - Part II – Level 200 | 20040619200059 | Microsoft |
| Microsoft SQL Server Reporting Services provides an enterprise-ready information delivery platform for building, managing, and delivering data from operational and business intelligence systems. Reports can include data from a variety of Microsoft and 3rd party data sources and can be displayed in a variety of formats including freeform, tabular, cross tabs, and charts. In this two-part webcast series, "Developing Reports using SQL Server Reporting Services", Geoff Snowman will go beyond the basics of Reporting Services to focus on the details of report design. In this final webcast, he will demonstrate the graphics capabilities in Reporting Services; creating reports that use charts; select from the variety of chart options; and creating reports that use the Reporting Services sub-reports feature. | |||

Storage Networking: Back to Basics | 20040302121607 | Computerworld |
| Rarely has there been a more confusing topic than storage networking. I get confused and this is what I do for a living, so I can only imagine the mind-numbing blather that the poor end-users — who have real jobs — have to deal with. This paper will help make sense of it all by explaining some complex storage concepts in layman’s terms, including definitions of storage-area networks (SAN) vs. network attached storage (NAS), IP storage, virtualization, storage management and more. | |||

Accessing Oracle Spatial Data with Autodesk Map 3D | 2005-12-20 17:31:26
| Many organizations such as utilities, telecommunication providers, and government agencies depend on geospatial data that is stored in an Oracle database. Autodesk Map 3D enables organizations to expand access to spatial data by letting other groups such as the engineering staff obtain data that was once available only to GIS professionals. Map 3D reduces bottlenecks and data management costs with powerful CAD tools that are familiar to many users in an organization.
Learn how organizations can use Autodesk Map 3D to edit, manage, share and save data in an Oracle Spatial database environment with this free white paper, "Autodesk Map 3D 2006 and Oracle Spatial Basics." |

A SOM Based Approach for Visualization of GSM Network Performance Data | 2005-11-16 01:00:03
| In this paper, a neural network based approach to visualize performance data of a GSM network is presented. The proposed approach consists of several steps. First, a suitable proportion of measurement data is selected. Then, the selected set of multi-dimensional data is projected into two-dimensional space for visualization purposes with a neural network algorithm called Self-Organizing Map (SOM). Then, the data is clustered and additional visualizations for each data cluster are provided in order to infer the presence of various failure types, their sources and times of occurrence. | |||

Snowboarding in New York State: A GIS Case Study | 2006-01-12 01:01:41
| This case study provides a realistic scenario to introduce and reinforce concepts presented in introductory level geography courses, particularly in cartography and in human, physical, or environmental geography. The case study describes a scenario in which a land developer is looking to purchase an existing New York State ski area and convert it into a resort that caters to snowboarders. Students play the role of consultants hired to conduct an analysis of eight existing resorts and determine the most suitable site for investment. The analysis is based upon an assortment of spatial variables such as a population, income, education, transportation networks, and annual snowfall. | |||
