Directory Deployment Planning Checklist | 2008-03-05 | Isode |
| When planning a directory deployment, there are a lot of things to take into account. This paper has been written to help those planning a directory deployment, and in particular Isode partners working on directory deployments for their customers and prospects. As the specifics of the approach taken will depend on the deployment requirements this paper does not attempt to be prescriptive, there are no "Right answers". Instead, a series of questions that (may) need to be asked are listed. | |||

Consider remote access and IP address management in your Active Directory network design | 2007-01-24 | Syngress |
| The methods used to gain remote access into your organization's network and manage IP address management for remote access can impact the implementation of Active Directory and should therefore be carefully considered in your network infrastructure design. In this sample chapter from How to Cheat at Designing a Windows Server 2003 Active Directory Infrastructure, investigate remote access and IP address management as they apply to the Active Directory and to security. Start with a discussion of remote access, the available methods, and the locations from which remote access must be provided. Explore the implications of an RAS deployment with respect to Active Directory, the policies that are available for uses as well as the machines, the chosen authentication strategy, and how it is to be implemented. Then, study IP address management and the use of DHCP, including how IP addresses and subnets should be mapped to DHCP scopes (and/or superscopes), which are then used to assign IP address and configuration data to clients on the associated subnet. End with a review of best practices for DHCP placement and failover and redundancy strategies, as well as the integration of DHCP with DNS.

IT Solution Provider Simplifies Its Own Network Authentication and Management | 2007-01-01 01:00:30 | Microsoft |

Adea implemented a solution based on Microsoft Windows Server 2003 and the Internet Authentication Service as a RADIUS server with Active Directory. Now the company has centralized authentication and accounting for all its networks and can bypass hardware and technology restrictions. Network administrators can easily set up new virtual LANs for client projects. | |||
