whitepaper Microsoft IT Strengthens Security With Data Loss Prevention Solution2009-09-29 Microsoft
To safeguard data stored in and transmitted from Microsoft offices and portable devices around the world, the Microsoft IT Security team used the Active Directory service to manage data-access rights and early versions of RSA Data Loss Prevention (DLP) products to locate sensitive data. This solution required IT staff to create and maintain custom classification systems and then manually notify content owners to update their file-access and classification rules. Microsoft IT Security upgraded to Active Directory Rights Management Services in the Windows Server 2008 operating system, as well as version 7 of DLP Datacenter. Now, Microsoft can automatically apply targeted and persistent protection according to industry best practices for improved regulatory compliance, freeing up IT time and lowering the risk of a security breach.

whitepaper Architecture Firm Gains $1.8 Million Annually in Billable Time From Search Solution2009-06-24 Microsoft
Little has more than 10 terabytes of data that it needs to search on a regular basis to serve its clients, and thought that a Google appliance was the way to provide that ability - the price, however, was deemed unaffordable. Instead, Little got the search capability it would have gotten from Google, and more, with a technology that it already licensed: enterprise search capability in Microsoft Office SharePoint Server 2007. The use of enterprise search helps employees find information that may have been created long before they joined the company, helps the company collaborate more successfully with its clients through the use of searchable extranets, and helps the firm save time worth up to U.S. $1.8 million per year in billings.

whitepaper University Creates Core Infrastructure Plan to Enhance Productivity and Collaboration2009-06-16 Microsoft
Tilburg University serves 12,000 students in the southern part of the Netherlands, with programs in the social sciences and humanities. Though its Novell file, print, mail, and directory infrastructure had served the university for 18 years, the students and staff wanted better mobility and collaboration support in an integrated environment. The IT staff jettisoned its Novell business productivity infrastructure and is replacing it with Microsoft programs to gain not only the desired integration, but to better support university policy of buying off-the-shelf applications. Tilburg University worked with Microsoft Gold Certified Partner Winvision to create a three-year roadmap for deploying the new infrastructure, which will enable the IT staff to easily integrate business productivity functions for increased user productivity, and to respond more quickly to user needs.

These forms were primarily available only via the Lotus Notes client and was not available via the browser. This limited the ability of employees to access the information without the availability of Lotus Notes. The age and the inflexibility of the forms also required the Client's technology team's constant involvement. Additionally, the client had started migrating their email systems from Lotus Notes to Microsoft Exchange and wanted to leverage Microsoft Active Directory to manage user access more efficiently. ConvergePoint was entrusted with the task of converting the existing Lotus Notes forms to Microsoft InfoPath.
