For Accenture, Virtualized Test Environment Cuts Costs and Expedites Modeling | 2006-11-01 01:00:29 | Microsoft |
| Accenture is a global management consulting, technology services, and outsourcing company with 133,000 employees in 48 countries. An Accenture infrastructure lab was recently given four weeks to build 19 model environments that included Windows and Linux operating systems. Instead of using six servers and 13 workstations, engineers built the environments on two servers running Microsoft Virtual Server. As a result, the engineers not only met their deadline, but also made more robust testing of applications possible on other environments. Additionally, by building virtual machines, managed by Microsoft Operations Manager, the lab has significantly reduced costs, accelerated the setup time of model environments by more than 200 percent, and improved IT responsiveness with fewer staff members. | |||
