whitepaper Extreme Business Warehousing: 60 Terabytes and Beyond2008-04-01 IBM
This paper covers the design criteria and implementation of an SAP NetWeaver Business Intelligence (SAP BI) system of extreme size, under massive online load, and with very demanding availability requirements. The proof of concept documented here is based on real customer data, business processes and business needs. It shows the how the application, infrastructure and middleware can scale-out to meet the most extreme business requirements, therefore the name "Extreme Business Warehousing".

whitepaper Integrating Oracle Business Intelligence Enterprise Edition Plus With SOA2008-01-01 Oracle
As one is most likely aware by now, Service-Oriented Architecture (SOA) is a design approach that allows developers to construct business applications and business processes out of loosely coupled, independent services provided by distributed applications. By basing the application infrastructure on SOA-enabled products such as Oracle Fusion Middleware, Oracle JDeveloper, and Oracle Database 11g, the user will be able to develop applications that reuse existing functionality within the organization, adapt easily to changing business priorities, and present users with compelling, Web 2.0 - style interfaces built using a framework of events, services, business rules, and application logic. Business Intelligence (BI), too, offers many benefits to organizations that look to gain better insights into their operations and financial performance.

whitepaper Reporting From Your Browser2008-01-01 Oracle
Web applications are of limited value if users can view the information they need on the screen but have no way to put that information into a suitable format for sharing with others. If the application displays 15 records at a time out of a total of 50 but users can't e-mail all 50 in a printable attachment or distribute them in slick hard copy at a critical meeting. .. Houston, there is a problem! Oracle Application Express solves this dilemma by tightly integrating with Oracle Business Intelligence Publisher to provide high-fidelity printing capabilities.

whitepaper Introducing Oracle Enterprise Performance Management Smart Space2008-01-01 Oracle
Maximizing performance across an organization often requires employees to make decisions quickly, efficiently and appropriately to meet the ongoing challenges of everyday business. However, in reality most organizations couldn't be further from this ideal. Research by Cindi Howson suggests that 75% of business users in current organizations do not have access to the necessary information for them to perform well. As a result, Business Intelligence (BI) investments have often failed to realize their promised ROI, or satisfy wider expectations regarding improving decision making and raising performance. This situation is surprising given the advances in technology. Vendors continue to offer and organizations deploy BI tools to users that are simply too difficult for most people to use. Arguably this situation is getting worse.

whitepaper Robust Software for Computing Camera Motion Parameters2007-12-20 Hewlett-Packard (HP)
This paper revisits the method of Tsai, Huang, and Zhu for the computation of camera motion parameters in computer vision. It elucidates some spectral properties of the homography matrices that arise, which are rank-one perturbations of rotation matrices. The paper shows how to correct for noise by finding the rank-one perturbation of a rotation closest to a give matrix. The paper illustrates some of the inaccuracies and computational failures that can arise when using the formulas given by Tsai, and it proposes new formulas that avoid these pitfalls. A computational experiment shows that the new methods are indeed quite robust.
