Helped Save Reporting and Analysis Costs for IATA Through Centralized Data Warehouse | 2008-01-24 | MindTree Consulting |
| IATA wanted a system that would consolidate all the E-Ticketing information from various sources and generate specific reports that would show the compliance status and related information of each airline. Some of the major challenges faced by MindTree team were: non availability of reliable information on time, leading to delayed load processes and subsequently delayed report generation and automation of the existing manual ETL processes. MindTree Consulting developed and currently maintains a consolidated and centralized data warehouse for IATA, the world's largest industry trade group of airlines. This warehouse consolidates data from various systems across the world to generate E-Ticketing reports and analysis based on airline, country, and Billing Settlement Plan.

The Forrester Wave: Information-as-a-Service, Q1 2008 | 2008-01-23 | Forrester Research |
| Forrester evaluated leading enterprise Information-as-a-Service (IaaS) vendors across 94 criteria and found that BEA Systems, IBM, Oracle, and Red Hat have established leadership positions, thanks to their IaaS capabilities, breadth of focus, and strong product and corporate strategy. BEA Systems and Oracle were the only vendors that topped all IaaS use cases. Ipedo, Composite Software, Microsoft, and Endeca Technologies are Strong Performers because their features and functionality are not sufficiently comprehensive to excel at all IaaS use cases, but Microsoft is among the Leaders in two selective use cases. Xcalia still has work ahead to build stronger features and functionality, but for now, it lags behind the Leaders in some key IaaS capabilities.

Continuous File Integrity Monitoring: A New Approach for PCI DSS Compliance | 2008-01-07 | Solidcore Systems |
| When it comes to IT infrastructure, a strong compliance posture requires two key components trusted state and safe change actions. Payment Card Industry Data Security Standard (PCI DSS) compliance, in particular, highlights the need for safe change actions. File Integrity Monitoring (FIM) is the capability to monitor files and directories on a server for change. The changes can be made to content, permissions or both. Note that only certain changes are relevant in a given situation. For example, PCI DSS compliance specifies that changes to existing data in log files must be detected, whereas the addition of new data can be ignored. For other files, such as critical configuration files, any change may be important.

A Pharmaceutical Company Uses IBM's Business Insights Workbench to Mine Vast Stores of Structured and Unstructured Data | 2008-01-01 | IBM |
| The challenge was daunting: In the public domain alone, the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office database contains more than 7.9 million full text and drawings of U.S. patents since 1976 and full-page images since 1790. In addition, Medline, an indexing service for research in medicine and related fields provided by the U.S. National Library of Medicine, contains nearly 15 million citations and abstracts in the life sciences and biomedical fields. The solution was developed using the IBM Business Insights Workbench (BIW), which uses WebSphere Information Integrator OmniFind technology for full-text search and content extraction. BIW's capabilities explore vast stores of both structured and unstructured data.
