SVA Group comprises more than 200 subsidiaries and affiliated enterprises. Each of these companies has its own information management system and the challenge was to share critical data across the entire group. Because information was collected and stored in different systems and different platforms, sharing data required time-consuming manual consolidation. To improve access to information, SVA Group decided to build an enterprise data warehouse to act as a central repository for key statistics. The data warehouse, built using Oracle technology, automated data collection and processing workflows, ensuring information is delivered to senior managers in a timely manner. SVA has cut financial reporting time and lowered costs as a result of improved productivity.

Petroleum Company Improves Real-Time Information Sharing With Rigs 2007-02-01 Cisco Systems

Belayim Petroleum Company wanted to reduce costly downtime by improving the quality and speed of decision making through real-time, media-rich access between rig personnel, headquarters, and remote experts. As a solution Cisco First Mile Wireless with Unified Communications, certified to work in hazardous conditions, has created a secure, high-speed converged network accessible anywhere on the rig, with just a 256 kbps VSAT link extending back into the corporate network. As a result avoiding just 10 hours downtime drilling time per month saved US$125,000 per rig - potentially US$9 million a year. It also resulted in highly skilled and specialized experts who can be consulted in real-time, to and from virtually anywhere in the world.

Insurance: Gothaer Group - Reduce Costs by integrating content with BPM 2007-01-23 IBM

To stay competitive in the fast-moving insurance market, Gothaer must be able to redesign business processes and internal workflows quickly and at low cost. With largely paper-based systems, the company lacked flexibility and speed and could not easily undertake a planned consolidation of outlying offices to central sites.

Paper-based workflows were costly to support and slow to adapt to new business needs. Gothaer Group wanted to enable more efficient processing of documents, offering greater business flexibility and reduced costs by eliminating physical document archives.

Gothaer Group worked with IBM and partners to create an enterprise-wide document management solution, including scanning and workflow elements, to process all incoming and outgoing documents; deployed IBM DB2 Content Manager for z/OS and IBM Lotus Notes software to manage, route and archive electronic documents; planning to integrate management of SAP documents and emails into the solution using IBM DB2 Content Manager CommonStore for SAP and CommonStore for Lotus Domino

This solution provided faster and easier retrieval of documents; clearly defined and automated document workflow enables a more responsive business; reduced costs through elimination of manual document processing and archival; move to electronic document archive will facilitate any future office moves, enabling greater business flexibility; stable and robust IBM System z platform offers optimal support for business-critical document management processes

Commerce Bank provides a diversified portfolio of financial services, including business and personal banking, wealth management, estate planning and investments. Commerce Bank's sales and marketing teams used customer transaction data stored in its Oracle and IBM DB2 databases to devise marketing programs and cross-sell and up-sell opportunities, and for corporate reporting. The bank needed to be able to access customer transaction data more efficiently. Commerce Bank deployed IBM WebSphere Information Integrator, v8 software to access approximately 90MB of data simultaneously from its Oracle and IBM DB2 databases for Business Objects reporting, which is Commerce Bank's customized reporting application. The solution eliminated the need for programmer-intensive coding.
