This paper shows how to convert unstructured written text into structured data using OpenCalais, which is a public general-purpose text-extraction service that uses a combination of statistical and grammatical analysis to extract meaning. OpenCalais is not the only solution available for extracting meaning from text, but it is the only publicly available web service.

  ARINC 664 presents the designers of data acquisition systems challenges not previously seen on other aircraft avionic buses. Among the biggest challenges are providing the test instrumentation system with the capacity to process two redundant Ethernet segments that may be carrying packet traffic at near wire-line speed. To achieve this level of performance, the hardware and software must not only perform mundane operations, like time stamping and simple virtual link MAC filtering, but also need to implement core ARINC 664 functions like redundancy management and integrity checking. Furthermore, other TCP/IP operations, such as IP header checksum, must also be offloaded to the hardware in order to maintain real-time operation.

  The method and accuracy of data capture dominate the spatial distribution of urban air pollution. Due to limited budget, installation space, and labor resource, permanent or temporary air pollution monitoring sites are very scattered. Air quality assessment of a city based on scattered monitoring sites may be incorrect because non-homogeneous distribution of air quality is neglected. Therefore, a number of model systems have been developed to estimate urban air quality at unsampled sites. In this paper, representative air quality model systems, their data captures and their applications are reviewed, which show that the input/output spatial data are commonly stored in regular grids with resolutions of 1-2 km, regardless of the complexity of urban form.

Both open source and proprietary database and business intelligence solutions were considered during the selection process. MySQL was chosen as the database engine; the Pentaho business intelligence suite was chosen to provide Extract, Transform, Load (ETL) and analysis/ reporting functionality.

This paper proposes a new approach for complex data integration, based on a Multi-Agent System (MAS), in association to a data warehousing approach. The objective is to take advantage of the MAS to perform the integration phase for complex data. The paper indeed considers the different tasks of the data integration process as services offered by agents.
