To maximize profits and enhance the customer experience, John Deere needs its distributors to sell and service its increasingly sophisticated products efficiently. John Deere Information Systems (JDIS) has developed advanced field force automation tools that let agents in the field or shop use a notebook or desktop PC to diagnose equipment, check parts availability, book orders and more. JDIS recommends Intel Centrino mobile technology-based notebooks to its dealers and is converting its back-end dealer support systems from a RISC platform to an Intel Xeon processor-based platform. Additionally, John Deere enhances corporate productivity with an Intel wireless LAN at its world headquarters, and many dealers are doing likewise.
