SDI Reduces Costs and Increases Efficiency With Standardized, Centralized Enterprise Resource Planning System

In past few years, SDI has moved into the semiconductor industry by using its stamping and etching expertise to make masks for the production of integrated circuits. To broaden its reach, SDI has set up affiliate relationships with internationally renowned manufacturers. In addition, SDI improved its marketing and manufacturing processes to attain the ISO9001 quality certification in 1994, and pass the UL QS-9001 quality certification in 1999. The company's expansion plans include moving some operations to China where it can operate more cost-effectively, but first SDI had to replace its legacy system with a Web-enabled enterprise resource planning (ERP) environment capable of supporting its short and long-term goals. SDI went live on Oracle E-Business Suite in 2000.
