NPO Saturn Gets Top Positions in the Field of Aircraft Construction Due to Intel-Based IT Solutions

High-performance computing is critical throughout the aircraft design lifecycle. To meet its growing demands for high-performance computing, NPO Saturn, one of Russia's leading aerospace companies, has chosen a clustered solution powered by the Intel Xeon processor and Intel Itanium 2 processor. With peak performance of 922 Gflops and LINPACK performance of 769 Gflops, the system is one of the most powerful of its kind within Russian industrial companies and the fourth highest ranking computer in the Top 50 supercomputer listing at CIS (Commonwealth of Independent States, the Union of former soviet republics excluding Baltic countries). To further its cost savings and flexibility, NPO Saturn chose a cluster running the Linux operating system.
