Overview

When the Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome (SARS) crisis broke out in Singapore, Tan Tock Seng Hospital (TTSH) had just gone online with its new Radiology Information System (RIS) and Picture Archiving and Communications System (PACS). The timing could not have been better. TTSH became a SARS screening center and in the following three months until the WHO (World Health Organization) took Singapore off the list of SARS affected countries, TTSH had screened more than 9,000 patients. With GE Centricity RIS/PACS and a high performance platform that includes the Intel Xeon processor supporting both the front- and back-end operations, TTSH has provided a major enhancement to using information technology in healthcare.
