Overview

The System i platform provides a robust, flexible, platform on which to implement Linux-based solutions. Features such as virtual I/O, virtual network, and processor sharing provide the ability to roll-out solutions with little (if any) additional hardware requirements. This paper presents a number of considerations with regards to implementing Linux-based solutions on the System i platform. This paper is not intended to be the definitive word on performance and will not present specific performance characteristics of a given workload.
