The Waikato Institute of Technology (Wintec), based in Hamilton, New Zealand, is a tertiary education provider specializing in vocational training. Wintec is the fifth largest Institute of Technology in the country, and works closely with industry to teach critical skills sought after by employers. As a leading technology establishment, Wintec needs to use and teach the latest industry standard technologies. In 2006 Wintec deployed Windows Vista and the 2007 Microsoft Office system, making it the first tertiary institution in New Zealand to use and deliver courses on the Windows Vista platform and the 2007 Office System. This has enabled Wintec to achieve closer alignment with the industries it feeds, to deliver strong internal value, and to encourage greater employee productivity.
