whitepaper Create a State-of-the-Art Work/Life Program2007-12-01 Microsoft Tips
Over the years, the author and his colleagues at Work & Family Connection have learned that it's certainly possible to casually implement a few programs that support employees' work/life balance and effectiveness. People can slip in some time-saving resources, introduce dependent-care assistance and supportive policies, or even try some flexible work options. But if it's a cultural change one is after at the company - in other words, a successful and comprehensive work/life program in which everyone participates with no penalty - it must be the result of an inclusive process.

whitepaper Genesys Enterprise Routing Solution V7.5 on IBM System p 570: Performance Report V1.02007-12-01 IBM
An IBM System p 570 with an IBM POWER6 processor server running IBM AIX 5L Version 5.3.6 and IBM DB2 Universal Database Version 8.2.7 set an outstanding record on the Genesys Inbound Voice Solution v7.5 for the Inbound Call Center industry in September 2007. A 16-way IBM System p6 570 4.7 GHz IBM,9117-MMA server, configured as four Logical PARtitions (LPARs) using a total of 16 CPUs, demonstrated the scaling capabilities across three diverse configurations to meet the demands of an enterprise-level of Genesys' Inbound Voice solution and Reporting implementation. Just one LPAR has the capability of handling a Call Center with call activity of up to 80 calls per sec.

whitepaper Set Up a New Desktop Computer2007-12-01 Microsoft Tips
When one sets up a new desktop computer, some assembly is required. And computer setup isn't limited to hardware - when one first turns on a new computer that has Microsoft Windows preinstalled, one needs to perform some simple setup tasks. If the new computer is a standard desktop model, it consists of at least four pieces: a Central Processing Unit (CPU), which is the box that contains the computer's processor, memory, disk drives, and ports for connecting external devices; a monitor; a keyboard; and a mouse. There might also be a pair of external speakers. Turn the CPU around. The back of the CPU has a collection of ports and jacks that looks something like this illustration, although they might be arranged differently.

whitepaper Red Hat Enterprise MRG: Realtime Whitepaper2007-11-16 Red Hat
Many enterprise workloads have extremely demanding requirements for determinism - to ensure predictable response times at the 20 microsecond latency level. The difficulty has been that until now, all realtime operating systems have been niche offerings - absent of any COTS (Commercial Off The Shelf) products. Red Hat is uniquely positioned to provide these capabilities due to its proven trackrecord of development and mainstream accepted Linux kernel realtime enhancements. In response to strong customer demand, Red Hat is productizing its realtime kernel in an offering called Red Hat Enterprise MRG, comprised of high speed messaging, realtime kernel, and grid cluster scheduler.

whitepaper Performance Characterization of HP ProLiant DL360 G5 With Quad-Core Intel Xeon Processors (3.16 GHz/2x6 MB) in a 64-Bit HP Server Based Computing Environment2007-11-01 Hewlett-Packard (HP)
This paper describes a performance characterization performed utilizing the HP 64-bit test harness, which incorporates a Microsoft Office 2003 workload. Test results cannot be compared directly with the results of tests performed using the 32-bit Office XP- or Office 2003-based harnesses. Combining concentrated 1U computing power, HP Integrated Lights-Out 2 (iLO 2) management, and essential fault tolerance, the HP ProLiant DL360 G5 server is a great choice for any business where space is at a premium.

whitepaper Managing Shims in the Enterprise: Practical Advice for Application Compatibility Mitigation2007-11-01 Microsoft
When addressing application compatibility issues in preparation for a deployment of Windows Vista, among the most flexible and powerful tools available are application compatibility fixes, or shims. However, most organizations do not leverage shims to the extent that they could, either because they don't understand the underlying technology or because they do not have a process in place to manage shims over the lifetime of the applications they manage. In this white paper the author shares his experience and best practices working with large enterprise customers to address application compatibility issues using shims as well as how to manage an organization's custom shim databases.
