Integration of Runtime Profiling and Static Code Analysis in Linux | 2006-12-03 | University of British Columbia |
| This paper describes a method for profiling large systems software on a Linux platform. Based on runtime profiling results, the bottleneck source code gets analyzed statically, thus identifying the poor algorithms that caused the low performance. Employing of various tools used to profile the case study application leads to the conclusion of increasing importance for integrating code analysis with runtime collected data. The current status of existing tools on Linux platforms that support the methodology described is being summarized.

Using SUSE Linux Enterprise Desktop With Microsoft Active Directory Infrastructure | 2006-12-01 | Novell |
| Heterogeneous IT environments are a fact of life. Nowadays information-driven enterprises have grown up with Microsoft and have come to depend heavily on Microsoft operating systems. And that means they have had to work hard to integrate home-grown, legacy and proprietary solutions within a predominantly Microsoft environment. Nowadays, Linux and open source software promise to transform IT economics, security and functionality for companies looking for an alternative to Microsoft. But for the foreseeable future, many companies will only be able to implement open source software side by side with Microsoft, rather than as a rip-and-replace alternative. Or they may attempt to migrate to open source over time, gradually phasing out Microsoft platforms to avoid the cost and disruption of deploying a completely new IT infrastructure.
