Together with Eindhoven University of Technology, Jakajima has developed a benchmark for these Operating systems. With this benchmark, Jakajima and Eindhoven University of Technology offer the market (OS developers, application developers, hardware suppliers, operators etc.) new innovative tools to compare their mobile products and/or applications in an independent way. The benchmark is an ideal tool in any phase of a product; during concept, development and deployment. This paper provides the approach, methodology and some results.

Wireless Digital Picture Frame Retrieves Live Information From Windows Vista Computers 2007-12-21 Microsoft Tips

The Momento digital picture frame needed to stand out from a pack of look-alike products. To differentiate their product from a standalone digital frame, which simply reads photos from memory cards or USB keys, OEM i-mate designed a connected, services-oriented device intended for the high-end segment of the consumer electronics market. Windows Embedded CE provided built in WiFi connectivity, advanced graphics, and powerful, integrated development tools. Using Visual Studio and .NET Compact Framework to build applications and web services, i-mate completed development in four months. Today, the Momento frame not only communicates wirelessly with local computers to stream photos and other content from hard drives, it also streams pictures from the Internet and displays live information from Windows Vista systems using Windows SideShow gadget technology.

For its latest product, SonoSite M-Turbo system, the company wanted to maintain rapid boot-up time of less than 15 seconds, while increasing system performance and enabling high-bandwidth transfer of image data files for clinicians to be able to seamlessly access digital images for diagnostic consultation, instruction, and publishing. SonoSite sought an embedded operating system to run with Texas Instruments' DaVinci Technology. As a Windows Embedded Partner, Texas Instruments recommended Microsoft Windows Embedded CE 6.0 for its support of connectivity options, multimedia capabilities, and integration with Visual Studio 2005 development tools.
