whitepaper HP System Copy Software for SAP With SAP Test Data Migration Server (TDMS)2009-07-01 Hewlett-Packard (HP)
With this proof of concept, HP and SAP showed that by using HP StorageWorks System Copy for SAP software to create a stable point-in-time copy of the production system, and then using SAP TDMS software to extract a consistent subset of data from this point-in-time image, it is possible to create a new system that is not only a constant representation of production, but also achieve substantial savings on storage space (The exact amount of storage saved is dependent upon the configured TDMS parameters which determines the amount of data to select from the sender system based upon a specific time frame). The entire processes can be performed without any impact to the production system, or affect to the availability of the production system.

whitepaper Virtualization With the Intel Xeon Processor 5500 Series: A Proof of Concept2009-06-01 Intel
Intel IT, together with Intel's Digital Enterprise Group, End User Platform Integration, and Intel's Software and Services Group, conducted proof-of-concept testing and Total Cost of Ownership (TCO) analysis to assess the virtualization capabilities of Intel Xeon processor 5500 series. A server based on Intel Xeon processor X5570 delivered up to 2.6x the performance and up to 2.05x the performance per watt of a server based on Intel Xeon processor E5450, resulting in the ability to support approximately twice as many virtual machines for the same TCO. It also verified seamless live migration between servers based on Intel Xeon processor 5500 series and previous Intel processor generations using VMware Enhanced VMotion and Intel Virtualization Technology FlexMigration assist.

whitepaper Scientists Boost Productivity With User-Friendly High-Performance Solution2009-06-01 Microsoft
Nile University is a non-profit privately owned research university in Egypt. The life-science researchers at CIS need to analyse huge amounts of biological data to compare genomic sequences. Using conventional computers this would not be possible, so high-performance computing (HPC) is vital to their success. Scientists at the Centre of Informatics Science (CIS) at Nile University worked with Microsoft to migrate their open-source applications for bioinformatics to Windows HPC Server 2008. With a user-friendly interface and advanced job-scheduling and deployment features, CIS researchers have succeeded in developing their applications 50 per cent faster than previously, and now enjoy easy-to-use tools that improve research speed.
