Power Saving Routing Protocol With Power Sieving in Wireless Ad Hoc Networks | 2009-05-12 | National Taipei University of Technology |
| Wireless ad hoc networks becomes a new type of wireless networks gradually because it could communicate to each other without infrastructure base stations. Due to limited power, routing path is broken easily, so how to design an effective power saving routing protocol is an important issue in wireless ad hoc networks. To solve this issue, the paper proposes a new routing protocol called power saving routing protocol with power sieving (PSRPS) in this paper. The proposed protocol partitions the network area into several square grids by the location information such as Global Position System (GPS). Routing is performed in a grid-by-grid manner. One node is elected as the grid leader in its grid with power sieving mechanism without broadcasting election packets.

10 Year Battery Powered Satellite Tracking Launches! | 2009-01-01 | PearTrack Systems |
| PearTrack launches the world's first self contained GPS tracking system with a 10 year battery life which is specifically designed for shipping containers. The GPS/GSM device is covertly fitted inside the container, protecting it from damage and prying eyes. The system can send an alert if moved or if the container doors are opened, giving the position of the container anywhere in the world. As a world leader in long-life battery powered GPS and GSM tracking products, they are continually developing their product base, indeed their R & D team have been developing and producing 'Best of class' GPS, communication and security products for over 25 years.

Trimble Protects Heavily Distributed Data With Atempo Live Backup | 2008-04-24 | Atempo |
| Trimble is a leading innovator of Global Positioning System (GPS) technology. The company wanted to centralize distributed client data, create enforceable and effective backup strategies. The challenge was to provide self-service restore capability. When it came to backing up their valuable desktop and laptop data, Trimble selected Atempo Live Backup because it automatically backs up and centralizes data while employees are on the road. Its self-serve recovery capability allows users to restore their own documents and systems at any time, anywhere - without burdening IT.

Path Planning of Mobile Landmarks for Localization in Wireless Sensor Networks | 0000-00-00 | Purdue University |
| Many applications of wireless sensor networks require the sensor nodes to obtain their locations. The main idea in most localization methods has been that some nodes with known coordinates (e.g., GPS-equipped nodes) transmit beacons with their coordinates in order to help other nodes to localize themselves. A promising method that significantly reduces the deployment cost is to replace the set of statically deployed GPS-enhanced sensors with one mobile landmark equipped with a GPS unit. In this case, a fundamental research issue is the planning of the path that the mobile landmark should travel along in order to minimize the localization error.

Architecture, Performance, and Scalability of a Real-Time Global Positioning System Data Grid | 2007-02-23 | Indiana University |
| This paper describes the architecture of the real time SensorGrid system, which supports the real-time message routing and processing of Global Positioning System data. The current system processes 1 Hz position data from 85 stations in southern and central California. This system is built on a computer network-enabled, topic-based publish/subscribe system and is extensible to other data sources. In order to determine the performance and the upper limits of scalability, here a set of systematic test evaluations of this implementation is conducted and present. These tests are able to show that performance does not degrade over time, that the system will handle up to 1000 simultaneous data providers or data consumers with a single message broker.

Relative Accuracy Based Location Estimation in Wireless Ad Hoc Sensor Networks | 2007-02-20 | University of California |
| In sensor networks, the location of a sensor making an observation is a vital piece of information to allow accurate data analysis. GPS is an established technology to enable precise position information. Yet, resource constraints and size issues prohibit its use in small sensor nodes that are designed to be cost efficient. Instead, most positions are estimated by a number of algorithms. To date, however, the focus was on individual accuracy of each sensor's position estimates in isolation to the complete network. This paper proposes a novel positioning algorithm called nQUAD to enable representative topology information based on relative accuracy.
