| Game developer Bungie is the creative force behind the highly successful trilogy of Halo video games, which have sold more than 25 million copies and grossed more than U.S.$1 billion worldwide. In order to improve its development process, the Kirkland, Washington, company wanted to find a way to better organize production materials during development and facilitate collaboration among team members. The company's programmers and artists now use Microsoft Office OneNote 2007 to store ideas, sketches, images and audio clips. Having a centralized repository for this information means that all team members have access to the latest iteration of designs and specifications, which streamlines the development lifecycle.

| REEDS Jewelers is a full-service jewelry retailer operating online and in 16 U.S. states. To be successful, REEDS needs fast, accurate information exchange between corporate staff and the chain's 67 stores. Phone and paper-based communications were time-consuming and difficult to reference, and the company's e-mail and collaboration systems were unstable and difficult to use. REEDS used its Microsoft Enterprise Client Access License Suite to deploy the Microsoft Business Productivity Online Standard Suite, part of Microsoft Online Services. REEDS employees are now more productive, with more time to strategize and sell. By hosting communications services in a Microsoft data center, REEDS has reduced infrastructure costs by 90 percent and e-mail support work by 80 percent. It has also improved the availability of critical messaging systems.

It wanted to improve its online presence by updating its Web site and streamlining a cumbersome Web content management process that required IT involvement and constrained marketing staff from developing the site along corporate directives. FICO migrated its portal to Microsoft Office SharePoint Server 2007 and increased dynamic content by 90 percent. Because marketing employees now manage Web content publication, data is posted 20 percent faster and IT staff can focus on appropriate duties, raising productivity by an estimated 60 percent. Also, thanks to integrated search in Office SharePoint Server, FICO was able to retire its third-party search solution, saving U.S.$37,000 a year.
