A Solid Edge Customer Is Featured on Monster Garage 2007-01-01 Siemens

A company called Morbark Inc., based in Winn, Michigan, supplied the chipper and some engineering expertise to the project. Morbark, founded in 1957, is the world's largest manufacturer of brush chippers, forestry, recycling and sawmill equipment. Morbark needed to improve and speed the output of 2D drawings. There were too many design errors in 2D. The weight of machines must be reduced to meet strict limits to travel on public roads. The company evaluated four 3D CAD systems and found best sheet metal design tools. It determined easiest to use 3D system with best customer support and tested integration with Finite Element Analysis (FEA) programs.

Tecnomatix Simulates New Equipment Control and Fleet Management System in Europe's Largest Marine Terminal 2007-01-01 Siemens

Siemens PLM Software, a global division of Siemens Automation and Drives, is working with Navis LCC, a global leader in resource optimization technology for the transportation and logistics industries, and TBA Nederland, a logistics specialist, contracted by Gottwald Port Technology to simulate ECT's equipment control and fleet management systems. The simulation actually contains a precise representation of the software - developed by Gottwald Port Technology - that will control the equipment fleet. The simulation is developed using Tecnomatix Plant Simulation. Navis' systems schedule the work for a large fleet of Automated Guided Vehicles (AGVs) and RailMounted Gantries (RMGs) and Plant Simulation will be used to test these systems.
