| A leader in in-vitro diagnostics, Roche Diagnostics manages a vast and expanding volume of molecular insights and translates it into products with high medical value for physicians and patients. Because of the complex and detailed nature of this work, Roche Diagnostics has stringent requirements for document management and storage. The company wanted to replace its existing document management system for IT projects with a new solution offering a more robust feature set. With help from Microsoft Gold Certified Partner Alegri International, Roche Diagnostics built a solution based on Microsoft Office SharePoint Server 2007, providing comprehensive security features, workflow support for the entire document life cycle, and automated Portable Document Format (PDF) rendering and publishing.

Irish Social Services Web Portal Wins Accessibility Award, Boosts Traffic 50 Percent | 2009-07-20 | Microsoft |
| The Department of Social and Family Affairs in Ireland promotes a caring society by providing income and other supports to enable active participation in society, promote social inclusion, and support families. It wanted to use the reach and immediacy of Internet communications to raise public awareness of its mandate and provide secure e-government services. To accomplish these goals, the Department had to upgrade its HTML-based Web site and streamline its content publication processes. It chose Microsoft Office SharePoint Server 2007 to support its portal and launched www.welfare.ie to immediate acclaim. The site boasts 50 percent more content, improved search, intuitive navigation, and new online services. It won an Irish eGovernment accessibility award.

| Global real estate franchisor RE/MAX International wanted to update its aging, externally hosted, custom-developed extranet site to save costs, increase development control, enhance system agility, and provide better resources for its affiliates. The company invested in Microsoft Office SharePoint Server 2007 to redesign and administer the extranet, and expects to recoup its upfront investment in the software within one year. The company also expects to save 75 percent annually in maintenance and administration costs. In addition, RE/MAX has improved its communications and strengthened its connection with brokers and agents through expanded extranet capabilities such as an enhanced search function, custom alerts, networking tools, and easier access to marketing and training resources.

| When the City of Tampa, Florida, was chosen to host Super Bowl XLIII, it fell upon the Tampa Police Department to ensure public safety for the event. To coordinate efforts with more than 25 other agencies and first responders, the department used E'SPONDER, an online collaboration environment based on Microsoft Office SharePoint Server 2007. The solution provided a central repository for multiple agencies to gather planning information prior to the event; during the event, it enabled personnel on the ground and at incident command centers to share information in real time via a Web-based portal.

| Builders look to architects to design buildings that help reduce carbon footprints - and many architects look to the American Institute of Architects (AIA) for guidance. The AIA has taken a leadership role in green technology in several ways: by eliminating the production and distribution of paper for board meetings, by reducing travel and using virtual meetings, and through the planned availability of virtual tours of the association's renovation of its headquarters to reduce its carbon footprint. A common technology behind all these moves is Microsoft Office SharePoint Server 2007. As a result of its efforts, the AIA has cut costs associated with paper use by 30 percent, decreased travel by 15 percent, and planned highly visual virtual tours.
