| This sample implements displacement mapping by ray tracing through geometry extruded from a base mesh. The sample uses Direct3D 10 and the geometry shader to extrude prisms which are then decomposed into three tetrahedra for each triangle in the mesh. The pixel shader ray traces through the tetrahedra to intersect the displacement map. The diffuse color and normal values are then calculated for this point and used to set the final color of the pixel on screen.

The key to an efficient workflow is minimizing steps, becoming fast at performing the repetitive parts, automating as much as it can, and spending quality time only on the final edit selects. At first glance, one might not think that a three-part mix of 1/3 Bridge, 1/3 Camera Raw, and 1/3 Photoshop could be a recipe for an efficient workflow, but it can be. The trick is to know what, how, and when to do the things required.

| This paper explains how to use the headless mode capabilities of the Java Platform, Standard Edition (Java SE, formerly referred to as J2SE). Headless mode is a system configuration in which the display device, keyboard, or mouse is lacking. Sounds unexpected, but actually one can perform different operations in this mode, even with graphic data. Where it is applicable? Many methods in the java.awt.Toolkit and java.awt.GraphicsEnvironment classes, with the exception of fonts, imaging, and printing, require the availability of a display device, keyboard, and mouse. But some classes, such as Canvas or Panel, can be executed in headless mode. Headless mode support has been available since the J2SE 1.4 platform.
