  This paper is a technical working paper written by developers at NKI Distance Education in the EU Leonardo project "Mobile Learning: The Next Generation of Learning", and describes the work carried out in the first year of the project. The aim of this project is to develop and adapt courses for current and future mobile handsets where mobile learning is defined as the provision of training courses via wireless devices - Personal Digital Assistants (PDAs), smart phones and mobile telephones. This paper accounts for and discusses the challenges of mobilizing content from traditional clients to mobile users who use a PDA or similar devices.
