Intel Virtualization Technology: A Roadmap Overview and Update

Overview

Intel Virtualization Technology (Intel VT) creates the ability to run multiple operating systems on a single IA-based platform under the control of a "Virtual Machine Monitor" (VMM). This presentation will survey some of the benefits of virtualization and describe the challenges faced by VMMs on the IA-based systems. It will then provide an overview of Intel's plans to address these challenges through hardware support in current and future generations of VT. The presentation also provides additional details of upcoming capabilities in the VT technology roadmap.
