Overview

The presenter of this webcast examines Windows Deployment Services (WDS) and the Microsoft Deployment solution accelerator. First, the presenter discusses the WDS role, and compares WDS to its predecessor, Remote Installation Services (RIS). The presenter also talks about the new Windows Imaging Format (WIM) and how it works with WDS and the Windows Automated Installation Kit (WAIK), and shows how to use WAIK to edit WIM image files and create answer files to automate operating system configuration. The presenter then looks at the Microsoft Deployment solution accelerator and how it can be used to deploy server operating systems and configurations.
