Fujitsu's Business Continuity Plan Development Methodology | 2007-04-01 | Fujitsu |
| In today's high-risk business environments, more and more companies are focusing on the Business Continuity Plan (BCP) as a management methodology for improving their ability to respond to any contingency. However, BCP development methodologies suitable for the business environment of Japanese companies have not progressed much beyond the theoretical stage, and the persons in charge of BCP development in companies have been struggling with this issue. Fujitsu has developed a practical methodology and software tool called BCEXPERT to streamline development of its own BCPs for business formations within the Fujitsu Group. This paper describes Fujitsu's BCP development methodology that has been standardized as the Fujitsu Business Continuity Management Model. | |||

Major Media Company Puts the "Team" Back in Software Development | 2007-04-01 | Microsoft |
| Clear Channel Communications, a Fortune 500 media company, owns more than 1,200 radio and TV stations across the United States and 750,000 billboards worldwide. The company's Enterprise Application Development group lacked a standard development methodology, formal software testing, and requirements authoring standards. In addition, the group missed project deadlines because requirements changed late in development. This situation adversely affected business planning. Seeking a solution, Clear Channel deployed Microsoft Visual Studio Team System and defined its development model and framework based on the Microsoft Solutions Framework. The result was a complete culture change: formerly opposing factions became a cohesive, productive team. Besides completing high-quality applications on time, the team now shares common terminology, a common understanding of roles, and a common process.

New Solution Improves Software Project Management, Productivity, and Quality | 2007-04-01 | Microsoft |
| Facing multiple simultaneous projects, the nine-member software development group within the Washington State Department of Community, Trade, and Economic Development (CTED) found it difficult to accurately assess project status, estimate new efforts, and ensure sufficient software quality. The group adopted Microsoft Visual Studio Team System to help it overcome all those issues. In gaining a comprehensive solution for all aspects of the development life cycle, the group has been able to increase its productivity, better manage and understand the application life cycle, and increase software quality. In addition, the group's development process is more consistent and predictable, and the collection, sharing, and reporting of project-related information is built into everyday workflows. | |||

Leading Shipbuilder Streamlines Operations With New Project Management Solution | 2007-03-07 | Microsoft |
| Fincantieri is one of the world's largest shipbuilding groups. The company, which employs 9,300 people, manufactures cruise ships, ferries, and military vessels and handles projects worth ?10 billion (U.S. $12.78 billion). Shipbuilding projects require collaboration between thousands of individuals at hundreds of companies. Historically, Fincantieri relied on disparate project management systems to oversee work and this reduced operational efficiency. The company moved to a new enterprise project management solution, based on Microsoft technology, which optimises project life cycles by integrating information from all business units. It gives employees and partners a common collaboration tool and can easily manage 100 shipbuilding projects simultaneously, while offering flexibility to scale for future needs.
