2007 Comparative Assessment Methodology Process for BPEL | 2007-09-11 | Active Endpoints |
| By following the BPEL standard, the choice of which BPEL engine to use should not affect interoperability of the orchestrated services or the reuse of the BPEL models or designs. As DoD moves toward Net Centricity and Services-Based and Service-Oriented Architectures (SOAs), the use of BPEL for composition and orchestration of those services will be increasingly important. The question is often posed: "Why BPEL for Command, Control, Communication, Computers, Intelligence Surveillance and Reconnaissance (C4ISR) and net-centric applications," when BPEL is a business process or workflow execution language.

Energy-Efficient Performance on the Client: A Proposed Measurement Methodology | 2007-09-01 | Intel |
| It is clear that the industry needs to implement energy-efficient performance measurement tools that provide meaningful results to end users. Although there are industry organizations that have started to look at this, in the interim Intel is proposing a methodology for comparing Intel platforms. This methodology isn't intended to be the final word, but rather the beginning of an industry discussion on a methodology to meaningfully gauge energy efficiency at a given performance level on the client PC. Intel will engage with industry consortia and government agencies to help foster the process of arriving at an industry-created methodology that can be broadly adopted and used across the industry. | |||

Benefiting the Bottom Line: Collaboration and Collaborative Technologies | 2007-09-01 | IDG (International Data Group) |
| There is widespread recognition that the construction industry must embrace new and better ways of working if it is to remain competitive and meet the needs of its ever-demanding clients. Project delivery in construction is highly dependent on the effectiveness of the team to execute the project, and this, in turn, depends on how well the team works collaboratively and how effective its communications infrastructure is. In an industry characterised by challenging requirements - such as the geographical distribution of project sites, high numbers of project participants and contractors, and significant heterogeneity of project teams - the need to facilitate widespread collaboration between members and across all project stages becomes a key success factor and a fundamental element of sustainable, competitive advantage.

Microsoft Project 2007: Breaking Work Into Task-Sized Chunks | 2007-08-10 | O'Reilly Media |
| When a person organizes a simple activity like seeing a movie with friends, he or she probably doesn't bother writing out the steps. One can just call their friends, pick a movie, get tickets, and buy popcorn without a formal plan. However, for more complex projects - like preparing the income tax return or launching a new product line - identifying the work involved is key to planning how and when to get it done. For example, missing the April 15 deadline can cost one hundreds of dollars in penalties. That new product may make a profit only if one keeps costs below $100,000 and get it on the shelves before Thanksgiving. At such times, cost, delivery dates, and other objectives are important.
