A landmark series of legal rulings meant a number of financial institutions had to provide information to HM Revenue & Customs (HMRC) about hundreds of thousands of their UK customers who hold offshore accounts. As a result of this landmark ruling HMRC obtained a significant amount of information on offshore accounts. As the estimated value of outstanding tax could be very significant, HMRC needed to respond quickly. Capgemini worked with HMRC to design and implement an effective strategy, underpinned by a bespoke solution, in under ten months.

Western Union International Bank Explores New Markets 2007-08-30 Capgemini

Based in Vienna, Western Union International Bank (WUIB) was founded in 2004 to support Western Union's strategy, enhance core business, offer tailored services through multiple channels, and most importantly, become the bank of choice for global customers. With banking operations starting in Austria, Germany and Norway, the strategy is to expand throughout Europe. Capgemini supported WUIB to define the business strategy and operating model for a pan-European business in a dual-phased approach. As part of the strategy and operating model, Capgemini deployed a detailed process for vendor selection so that WUIB had a stable and scalable core banking system to address its complex requirements. The package selected was Flexcube from i-flex.

The presenter concludes this session by showing some of the newly created content types in action on a Windows SharePoint Services site.

Swedbank Uses Tactical Planning to Gain Better Insight Into Business 2007-06-21 Capgemini

The assignment for Capgemini was to support Swedbank in its system change. The initial step was to create an overall solution and plan how the new system support would be designed and implemented. Capgemini presented a model for Swedbank based on tactical planning and utilization of services, with a shift in focus from processes to results. The model allowed Capgemini to create an overall description of the business and its IT support, providing a solid basis for decision-making, plus a synchronized plan for step-by-step implementation. The solution uses Capgemini's Enterprise Architecture method which it refers to as Integrated Architecture Framework (IAF).

RESOURCE Commercial Real Estate Case Study: Trane 2007-04-10 RESOURCE Commercial Real Estate

RANE was in need of Project Management to assist in coordinating and managing their built-to-suit office and retail relocation and hired Lucia Carter and her Project Management Team, while at her former firm. Lucia created a timeline of tasks and responsibilities required to commence and ultimately complete the relocation. A move team was put in place, kick-off meetings conducted for all components, and plans instituted to coordinate, manage and complete each task. Lucia formulated an initial budget for all components based on her project experience and long-term relationships with various vendors that optimize her buying power. These vendor relationships also ensure that TRANE receives the highest level of service and attention to detail from the vendors.

Greater Indianapolis Chamber of Commerce, the Indy Partnership, and Indianapolis Downtown, Inc. 2007-04-10 RESOURCE Commercial Real Estate

Three leading Indianapolis area economic development organizations - The Greater Indianapolis Chamber of Commerce (GICOC), The Indy Partnership (TIP), and Indianapolis Downtown, Inc. (IDI) - had a vision to co-locate. Factors that needed to be evaluated were what and how resources could be shared, vendor contributions, and how to successfully stagger their organizations' moves across two weekends one month apart. The RESOURCE Project Management Director, and a former colleague, were hired by each organization in conjunction with the RESOURCE Tenant Advisor (and a former colleague.) The Project Management Directors first charge was to create a "Move team." This was most critical due to three organizations being involved.

To ensure that dynamic demands of customers were addressed more efficiently, Uecomm's management tem began searching for a solution that could reinvigorate the company's business framework through a new strategy and supporting culture. Capgemini worked in close collaboration with Uecomm to deliver a comprehensive strategic and culture roadmap together with supporting initiatives, labeled as 'Project Obsidian'. Capgemini refined with Uecomm a new strategy that has been in development for close to six months. Capgemini worked collaboratively with the Uecomm management team and staff to define the new culture and leadership behaviours required to support the strategy achievement and develop an implementation roadmap, supported by a comprehensive communications strategy.

Absa experiences many of the challenges common to the banking industry, namely, increased competition and a need to serve customers with innovative, timely products delivered in a desirable format. Absa is moving away from a transaction-focused business toward an increasingly customer-centric approach. Absa turned to a Microsoft Services Enterprise Strategy Consultant (ESC) to understand how Microsoft technology can help the bank meet its goals.
