  Based in Vienna, Western Union International Bank (WUIB) was founded in 2004 to support Western Union's strategy, enhance core business, offer tailored services through multiple channels, and most importantly, become the bank of choice for global customers. Capgemini supported WUIB to define the business strategy and operating model for a pan-European business in a dual-phased approach. As part of the strategy and operating model, Capgemini deployed a detailed process for vendor selection so that WUIB had a stable and scalable core banking system to address its complex requirements. The package selected was Flexcube from i-flex.

  The assignment for Capgemini was to support Swedbank in its system change. The initial step was to create an overall solution and plan how the new system support would be designed and implemented. Capgemini presented a model for Swedbank based on tactical planning and utilization of services, with a shift in focus from processes to results. The model allowed Capgemini to create an overall description of the business and its IT support, providing a solid basis for decision-making, plus a synchronized plan for step-by-step implementation. The solution uses Capgemini's Enterprise Architecture method which it refers to as Integrated Architecture Framework (IAF).

A move team was put in place, kick-off meetings conducted for all components, and plans instituted to coordinate, manage and complete each task. Lucia formulated an initial budget for all components based on her project experience and long-term relationships with various vendors that optimize her buying power. These vendor relationships also ensure that TRANE receives the highest level of service and attention to detail from the vendors.
