Overview
The major goal of this research is to establish efficient routing protocols for UWB MANETs in a factory environment by developing two main routing mechanisms: route discovery and route maintenance. To do so, two basic considerations are taken into account. Firstly, the paper considers a PHY layer model that uses a realistic pathloss model, called shadowing model, combined with an UWB transmission technique, as described in the standard IEEE 802.15.4a. Secondly, the paper considers a realistic network scenario that represents an industrial indoor application with realistic mobility and traffic patterns. Also, a mathematical model for the capacity of UWB MANET factory scenario is developed as tools for benchmarking.
