Overview
For decades, the IT industry has tried out a number of technologies, looking for one that can provide a single network that could accommodate all traffic needs. Ethernet has long been considered a top contender, but only now with the development of 10 Gb Ethernet, is there real opportunity for a truly converged data center with a single network supporting both storage and data traffic. Both the FCoE (Fibre Channel over Ethernet) and iSCSI (SCSI over TCP/IP) protocols provide paths to reach this goal. The presenter of this webcast will examine the journey of innovation in storage networking. It will then review the components for both iSCSI and FCoE technologies and cover some of the core concepts of their uses as storage technologies.
