| LFV Group operates airports throughout Sweden. LFV has a highly distributed workforce, and e-mail is the primary source of communication for the group's 4,000 employees. In 2009, LFV began a program to upgrade its communications infrastructure, including its telephony system and Microsoft Exchange Server 2003 e-mail solution. LFV wanted a unified messaging solution that could support a common inbox for e-mail and voice-mail messages while maintaining the high reliability that employees had come to expect. After testing Exchange Server 2010 as part of the Microsoft Rapid Deployment Program and with help from Microsoft Gold Certified Partner Logica, LFV has decided to deploy the software for its unified messaging capabilities and improved e-mail access for mobile users.

| Ohio-based Stoneridge is a designer and producer of highly engineered electrical systems and components that are used in automobiles, commercial trucks, and agricultural vehicles. The company's engineers, who work throughout the world, needed better and more cost-effective tools with which to collaborate on design projects. Stoneridge also needed to replace its aging phone systems in the United States. To solve those challenges, the company deployed a solution based on Microsoft Office Communications Server 2007. As a result, Stoneridge expects to reduce travel and long-distance phone costs by U.S. $730,000 by 2011, while making project collaboration more efficient and productive. Stoneridge IT managers now have better tools for training, and all of the company's employees can communicate more effectively. Overall, the company's internal and external communication is being transformed.

| Nile University is a non-profit privately owned research university in Egypt. The life-science researchers at CIS need to analyse huge amounts of biological data to compare genomic sequences. Using conventional computers this would not be possible, so high-performance computing (HPC) is vital to their success. Scientists at the Centre of Informatics Science (CIS) at Nile University worked with Microsoft to migrate their open-source applications for bioinformatics to Windows HPC Server 2008. With a user-friendly interface and advanced job-scheduling and deployment features, CIS researchers have succeeded in developing their applications 50 per cent faster than previously, and now enjoy easy-to-use tools that improve research speed.

| The United Arab Emirates federal government wanted to deliver an improvement plan for public services aimed at reaching strategic targets by the end of 2010. The key to delivery of the transformation strategy is an automated performance management system, called ADAA (performance in Arabic), and based on Microsoft Office PerformancePoint Server 2007 business intelligence software. Every quarter, federal government entities submit their progress reports to the Prime Minister's Office, which then uses automated tools to measure their performance based on more than 3,000 key performance indicators. Four analysts can easily review the large amounts of data, whereas it would take tens of people to do the same job manually.
