Why Free Patch Management Tools Could Cost You More | 2009-10-12 | KACE |
| As organizations look to keep operating expenses down, "free" technology solutions start to look more attractive. However, when choosing a solution for patching your systems and servers, it is important to consider the total cost of ownership (TCO) and the difference in key capabilities between point patching products and comprehensive patch management solutions. This white paper uncovers those differences.

Sizing Guide for Microsoft Hyper-V on HP Server and Storage Technologies | 2009-08-01 | Hewlett-Packard (HP) |
| This paper presents basic sizing guidance for deploying applications into a Microsoft Hyper-V virtualized architecture. It focuses on Hyper-V sizing from a generic or horizontal view, and does not focus on any specific application running on top of Hyper-V. Instead, it provides guidance on the key factors on which to focus for any application running on Hyper-V. The major Hyper-V consideration discussed in this white paper is the number of virtual machines (VMs) that can be run on a physical host server. This information should be used as sizing guidance and is not a detailed blueprint for implementing Hyper-V architecture.

| FTP (File Transfer Protocol) is a standard protocol used to transfer data over networks such as the Internet, or simply between two computers within the same local network (Local Area Network). Although still extensively used by organisations worldwide, is traditional FTP really adequate or capable of handling the substantial quantities of data exchanged on a daily basis? More to the point, does it offer businesses the value added features so desperately needed in todays busy corporate environments? This paper discusses the limitations of traditional FTP and highlight how Hermstedt's StingRay FTP functionality has been enhanced to meet the requirements of modern business, where FTP is the preferred delivery protocol.

Implementing a PST Management Strategy With the Barracuda Message Archiver | 2009-07-01 | Barracuda Networks |
| PST files have become very common in today's email environment. Typically, when users send and receive email, they are stored on the email server and can be accessed at any time. Growth in usage of email means storage requirements on email servers is growing exponentially. To prevent costs associated with expensive transactional storage, many administrators experiment with offloading emails from the servers into PST files.

The Critical Need for Encrypted Email and File Transfer Solutions | 2009-07-01 | Osterman Research |
| Email and file encryption are absolutely critical for a variety of reasons, including compliance with regulatory obligations to protect the integrity of sensitive data and best practices focused on maintaining the confidentiality of corporate data. However, most emails sent today - including those that contain highly sensitive content - are sent in clear text email. Similarly, most use of file transfer systems does not include encryption, leaving organizations exposed to a variety of negative consequences. However, the status quo must change. Because of increasing amounts of sensitive content that organizations are sending and storing in email, increasing corporate governance requirements, and the growing number of consequences associated with not encrypting email and other content, encryption has become a business and legal necessity.
