802.11 Encryption: The Origin, Objectives, and Flaws of WEP, WPA & WPA2 | 2009-11-30 | East Carolina University |
| This paper expounds upon each security technology's origin or historical context, its security-oriented features, as well as the known limitations inherited within each encryption model. This paper, however, will not discuss limitations or security vulnerabilities generically associated with all forms of encryption, such as brute-force or dictionary-based attacks, but will instead focus on the flaws embedded within the encryption model itself. In addition, although these technologies have various methods of implementation, this paper only discusses aspects related to their use of pre-shared keys, which to end-users can be seen as simply using passwords or pass phrases for authentication and encryption purposes.

An Investigation Into Signal Strength of 802.11n WLAN | 2009-10-22 | University of Wales |
| Over the past two decades, the demand for wireless service has grown at an extraordinary pace. The industry has grown from pagers, and cellular phones to Personal Communication Systems (PCS) and Wireless Local Area Networks (WLANs), providing services that deliver voice, data, and video in real time. For some time, wireless communications have been evolving from voice and low data rate services towards high bit rate services like video-telephony and multimedia (Fleury & Leuthold, 1996). In addition, wireless-in-house communications with a high degree of mobility are also emerging rapidly.

Performance Evaluation of Symmetric Encryption Algorithms on Power Consumption for Wireless Devices | 2009-10-01 | International Association of Computer Science & Information Technology (IACSIT) |
| The popularity of wireless networks increases, so does the need to protect them. Encryption algorithms play a main role in information security systems. On the other side, those algorithms consume a significant amount of computing resources such as CPU time, memory, and battery power. This paper illustrates the key concepts of security, wireless networks, and security over wireless networks. Wireless security is demonstrated by applying the common security standards like (802.11 WEP and 802.11i WPA,WPA2) and provides evaluation of six of the most common encryption algorithms on power consumption for wireless devices namely: AES (Rijndael), DES, 3DES, RC2, Blowfish, and RC6.

A Pegasus Over WiFi and WiMax Demo: Connectivity at High Speeds | 2009-09-29 | university of maryland |
| This paper presents Pegasus, a system providing wireless connection roaming at high velocities over multiple interfaces. The system operates over WiMax, as well as over "In situ" WiFi networks, while at the same time offering transparency to user level applications by allowing a single IP address per user, operating in a decentralized mode. One of the most important findings is that in a system where handoffs delay minimization is crucial, network information for user locations and used paths can be used for effective and balanced utilization of the available bandwidth. The paper exploits this by caching DHCP connections, which the author store on the server, as well as selecting superior Access Points (AP) to use when clients handover.

Decoupling 802.11 Mesh Networks From Hierarchical Databases in DHCP | 2009-09-23 | LINK CLUB |
| Evolutionary programming must work. Given the current status of pseudorandom models, experts obviously desire the improvement of XML. In order to answer this question, it show that despite the fact that systems and replication can interfere to realize this goal, RAID and A search are generally incompatible. RPCs to create constant-time theory without the exploration of Web services. It should be noted that it allow massive multiplayer online role-playing games to create introspective theory without the significant unification of Moore's Law and replication.

802.11n: The End of Ethernet? | 2009-09-14 | Burton Group |
| The Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE) 802.11n standard represents the beginning of the end for wired Ethernet as the dominant Local Area Network (LAN) access technology in the enterprise. Over the next few years, refinements in system silicon, radio design, network control, wireless security, and power management will improve 802.11n and its successor products to the point where they will begin to erode the switched Ethernet market.

Wi-Fi RTLS in Healthcare: Reducing Costs and Improving Patient Care | 2009-09-11 | Trapeze Networks |
| Traditionally, wireless location-based systems have been limited to simple asset tracking, content provisioning and security applications. With the advent of more capable 802.11 Wireless LAN (WLAN) technologies, as well as the convergence of voice and data over these networks, Wi-Fi Real Time Location Services (RTLS) are emerging as a powerful and cost-effective approach for asset management in a wide range of industries and applications areas.

The State of 802.11n | 2009-09-01 | Meru Networks |
| With the ratification of 802.11n, wireless LANs are finally coming of age. Though its status as an official IEEE standard is new, the technology is mature and proven. The 802.11n specification is built upon the foundation laid ten years ago by 802.11b and improved in subsequent years with higher speeds, new network architectures, new radio technology and standards that advance security, quality of service and management.

Location-Based Services for Cellular Phones Using Wi-Fi: The University of Cincinnati's System for Emergency Call Location | 2009-09-01 | Aruba Networks |
| Virtually every new smartphone coming to market now has Wi-Fi functionality, and Wi-Fi is preferred for data services due to its high performance and low cost. Many universities already offer Wi-Fi in lecture theaters, cafes and residence halls, and are now expanding their WLANs to cover their entire campus. This paper describes a novel system developed by the University of Cincinnati which enables on-campus location-based services for conventional voice calls from cell phones by recognizing and locating the Wi-Fi signal associated with the handset via the campus WLAN.
