Wireless LAN Virtualization: Twice the Network at Half the Cost | 2008-11-19 | Meru Networks |
| With the introduction of 802.11n, WLAN radio data rates of 300Mbps and peak throughput not too far behind have propelled the speed of wireless networks past wired Ethernet. With the increase in bandwidth comes the prospect of eliminating the vast majority of wireline switch ports. Wireless radios can blast networking connectivity through walls and cover an increasingly mobile workforce, saving the enterprise money in the short term and unlocking the potential for productivity gains in the long term. Collaboration increases as employees lose their tethers to their desks and start to move to where the work is actually being done.

HT (High Throughput) and 802.11n | 2008-11-14 | CWNP |
| This paper discusses the most talked about new technology that is defined under the 802.11n amendment. The 802.11n amendment defines a new operation known as High Throughput (HT), which provides PHY and MAC enhancements to support throughput of 100 Mbps or greater. The technology defined by the 802.11n amendment is sometimes referred to as 802.11 "Next Generation" technologies due to the promise of greater throughput as well as greater range. It discusses the history of the 802.11n technology and how the Wi-Fi industry is responding.

Why your Firewall, VPN, and IEE 802.11i Aren't Enough to Protect Your Network | 2008-11-03 | Hewlett-Packard (HP) |
| Like any network technology, wireless local area networks (WLANs) need to be protected from security threats. Though recent developments in IEEE standards have been designed to help ensure privacy for authenticated WLAN users, WLAN clients and enterprise infrastructure can still be vulnerable to a variety of threats that are unique to WLANs.

Hewlett-Packard (HP) Case Study: Asan Medical Center | 2008-11-01 | Hewlett-Packard (HP) |
| In anticipation of opening a new 15-story building on its main campus that would house an additional 700 beds, Asan Medical Center wanted to upgrade its wireless LAN infrastructure in order to support new productivity-boosting applications. The hospital was using a centrally controlled Wireless LAN (WLAN) from Cisco, but required a platform that was reliable, cost-effective, and easily scalable to support high-performing real-time applications such as voice-over-Wi-Fi and access to electronic medical records. After an extensive evaluation of major WLAN vendors, AMC selected HP ProCurve to implement a new wireless network throughout its campus. HP ProCurve emerged as the vendor of choice due to its Quality of Service (QoS) for voice-over-Wi-Fi, seamless roaming capabilities, rock-solid wireless security, and ability to support 802.11n applications and devices.
